Though it is not common knowledge, there were two of them in music history, father and son. Both signed their works in the same way, as Konstanty Regamey, and so they were distinguished only by their close friends and family, later – by musicologists. What they had in common was blood ties and having lived in Kiev, a multicultural capital within the Russian tsar’s empire, with a great residue and strong presence of Polish culture.

This is how Jerzy Stankiewicz, a tireless researcher of the fate of both figures began his essay in the booklet of the album published by the Polish Composers’ Union in 2020, and entitled ‘Regamey&Regamey - Pasiecznik&Pasiecznik’.

The determination of Mr. Jerzy, long-time president of the Krakow Branch of the Polish Composers' Union, winner of the annual Polish Composers’ Union Award and the award of the Minister of Culture “For the restoration of the works of Konstanty Kazimier and Konstanty Regamey,” has led the Polish Composers' Union to carry out as many as three projects dedicated to the two figures. After two CDs, the production of which involved the organisation of recording sessions at the Witold Lutoslawski Polish Radio Concert Studio in Warsaw, the time has come for a portal whose main character is the tragic figure of Regamey the Father.

You are cordially invited to read about this deeply moving story. On the site you can also see photographs, archival documents, and listen to music. One can find evidence of the deep attachment between Regamey the Father and Regamey the Son despite a separation of 20 years ending in death, which the Son never learned about... (Iz).
